We've been putting a deck on the back of our house, or rather we're having a contractor do it. It's something we've been wanting to do for years and years. The deck itself is now finished and we have really enjoyed using it several times to have dinner. But some finishing touches are needed, most notably a door from our kitchen onto the deck... right now we have to walk around to the backyard and climb the stairs. Once the door is in place, and the lighting is installed, we hope it will still be warm enough to have a few people over to enjoy it with us before the summer recedes. The deck was built by Holland Builders.
The other thing we're doing is landscaping the backyard, so that we have something pretty look at from the deck. We've been wanting to do this as well, since we've only had clover and crabgrass to look at for the past few years. The backyard will be getting a complete overhaul, with plantings around the perimeter near the fence, and grass in the center. The work has just started, and right now our backyard looks like a Martian landscape. The landscaping is being done by Custom Plantscapes. I will post updates as the work progresses.
